WHAT IS SAP PS

Introduction

SAP Project System (PS) is a part of SAP’s Project and Portfolio Management solution. Project System helps manage projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, from the creation of a project to the preparation of detailed plans, project execution and completion.

Due to its tight integration with SAP’s Finance and Logistics modules, the SAP PS Module can be used especially for large and complex projects such as construction, production, service, investment projects in all industries.

One of the strengths of SAP PS as a project management tool is that it can be integrated with other SAP modules as shown in the image below, as well as with external project management tools such as Primavera and Microsoft Project from non-SAP systems.

What are the SAP PS Module Basic Functions?

The SAP PS Module Basic Functions discussed in this blog post are as follows:

  • Project Structure: It is the creation of work packages used in projects using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Elements and Network Plans specific to SAP PS.
  • Time Schedule: It is the creation of the project time schedule, the steps in the work packages (WBS elements) specific to the projects on the time schedule according to the project calendar, and the tracking of the activities of the employees.
  • Cost and Revenue Planning: It is the cost and revenue planning of the steps in work packages (WBS elements).
  • Budgeting: It is the budgeting of the projects and the steps in work packages (WBS elements) included in the projects, to make budget management and to ensure budget availability controls.
  • Project Progress Analysis: It is the analysis of the stages of the projects, the progress of the project steps, and the project status.
  • Reporting: It is the provision of various reporting based on hierarchical, financial (G/L Account and line item), material, resource, and project progress regarding the projects.
